1       Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest

1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting

1.2 Apologies were received from Dawn Bowden AM and Jayne Bryant AM

 

2       Public Health (Wales) Bill - Stage 1 evidence session 4 - Chartered Institute of Environmental Health - POSTPONED

 

3       Public Health (Wales) Bill - Stage 1 evidence session 5 - Welsh Local Government Association and Directors of Public Protection Wales

3.1 The Committee received evidence from representatives of the WLGA and Directors of Public Protection Wales.

3.2 Simon Wilkinson agreed to review the sections in the Bill relating to Health Impact Assessments and provide a note on whether the Bill as currently drafted is clear about how Health Impact Assessments will lead to better public health.

 

4       Public Health (Wales) Bill - Stage 1 evidence session 6 - BMA Cymru Wales and Royal College of General Practitioners

4.1 The Committee received evidence from representatives of BMA Cymru Wales and the Royal College of General Practitioners.

4.2 Dr Stephen Monaghan agreed to provide evidence, and any research available, on blood-borne viruses and their origins within the context of special procedures and piercings.

 

5       Motion under Standing Order 17.42 to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of the meeting

5.1 The Committee agreed the motion.

 

6       Public Health (Wales) Bill - Stage 1 evidence sessions 5 and 6 - consideration of evidence

6.1 The Committee considered the evidence given by WLGA, Directors of Public Protection Wales, BMA Cymru Wales and the Royal College of General Practitioners.
